Arvest Announces Coloring Contest Winner

Friday, July 14 at 08:45 AM
Category: Arvest Community News

We are excited to announce the winner of our coloring contest hosted by Arvest and the Early Childhood Initiatives Center* in Bentonville, Ark.

Congratulations to our winner Shraunak Sagare, age 4! His art will be featured on an Arvest Bank debit card along with the logo of the Helen R. Walton Children’s Enrichment Center- Early Childhood Initiatives Center.

Sagare’s entry was selected from more than 80 submissions in the competition, which was held June 24 at the Bentonville Farmer’s Market - Kids Art Park.*

“Every piece was unique and reflected a wonderful insight about the child that created it,” said Michelle Barnes, executive director of the Early Childhood Initiatives Center. “It's incredible to watch … young children move through stages of development beginning with random scribbling and moving to lines and patterns, and finally being able to draw pictures of objects and people. It's only then a child is developmentally ready to write letters.

“The contest winner was selected because the artwork reflects a young learner’s process towards developing fine motor skills. Additionally, he used art to express his view on life. When we make art a part of regular part of learning, children are able to express their feelings, problem solve, learn cause and effect, and gain confidence.”

Thank you to all of the young artists who participated in this fun event!

“In celebrating 80 years of Oklahoma State Parks, we want to share all of the wonderful sites Oklahoma offers, so it was an easy decision to partner with Arvest Bank, and to have the opportunity to promote our parks outside the state as well,” said Kris Marek, director of Oklahoma State Parks.

Debit cards are free to customers who open a new account with Arvest or they may be purchased to replace an existing card for $7.50.  See the limited-edition designs on our website.
